Course Description

Expand and perfect your wonderful WATSU skills!  

By popular demand, a FULL extra day of additional material has been added to this course!

This course will take your WATSU skills to the next level through learning more WATSU techniques and expanding the adaptations of WATSU techniques for clients with various needs.

Learn how to use these techniques with a wider range of clients to:

  • decrease pain
  • decrease muscle spasm
  • improve postural alignment
  • promote deep relaxation
  • increase range of motion
  • decrease stress

This course will build on and greatly expand the techniques and skills you learned in WATSU 1, which is a prerequisite.  The emphasis will be on extensive instruction and practice time in the pool.  Videos will demonstrate WATSU being adapted for clients with various challenges.

Course Prerequisite

Successful completion of WATSU 1.

 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the benefits and precautions for WATSU.
  2. Apply WATSU 2 techniques for clients with a variety of needs to help decrease pain, decrease muscle spasm, improve postural alignment, promote deep relaxation, increase range of motion, and decrease stress.
  3. Modify and adapt WATSU 2 techniques for a wide range of client populations by knowing when a specific technique is needed, as well as when and how to modify techniques.
  4. Use WATSU 2 techniques to gently and effectively stretch major muscle groups.
  5. Incorporate WATSU 2 into programs using additional aquatic techniques to help clients progress toward their land-based functional goals.
